Captain John, from Sarasota, Florida, developed a passion for fishing early on. After attending the New Found Harbor Marine Institute, he spent each summer break exploring the fishing and diving opportunities in the Florida Keys. In 1988, he founded FUNYET Charters, transitioning over the years from SCUBA diving to specializing in snorkeling, skin diving, and fishing. Today, Captain John shares his expertise through features in FishMonster Magazine and live seminars each season.

FUNYET Charters is THE charter to hire if you want to CATCH (& not just fish)! Captain John Sahagian is a safe, fun, knowledgeable & skilled charter captain! We have fished all over the Pacific & consider our Florida Keys charter with FUNYET one of our best days fishing ever! WARNING Captain John!! We’re coming back! P.S. Captain John helped clean & filet our ENTIRE catch (which filled an entire 4'x2'x2' cooler (which we checked as a piece of luggage!) Gotta LOVE a captain who provides that kind of help!

Had a great time fishing with John. We asked him to put us on some fish that we could eat and have a great time catching and he delivered. Non-stop action jigging for a variety of fish over 4 hours and caught many keepers. Would definitely recommend him.

Over 30 years of fishing every year with Capt.John (or more) In the hundreds of trips I can honestly say not one trip was a bust, I have caught fish of every type with this captain, from huge Dolphin (Mahi-Mahi) Wahoo, Sailfish, Monster groupers and Mutton Snappers, Cobia and so many more. Wedding day. Birth of children. Fishing with FUN YET Charters. Yesterday was one of the most memorable days of my life. Captain John put us on some fish!! From arriving promptly to the dock right in front of the place we were staying, to letting us choose whether we wanted to try inland or reef fishing, to offering tips and advice about how to land the fish (without it coming off as “man-splaining”), everything was flawlessly executed and delivered beyond our expectations. We caught mutton snapper, yellowtail snapper, grouper (not in season), king mackerel, and even some sharks! To top it off, John cleaned the fish for us, and even joined us at a local restaurant (his girlfriend came too!) where they cooked the fish. It turned into a fun afternoon and now we have new friends who live in The Keys. A perfect experience worth every penny. Thank you FUN YET charters!
